
Around 35,000 street lights will be switched off – more than half of Cornwall’s entire street lighting – within the next few months. The news comes as the cost of lighting the Duchy at night is set to increase by over £1 million a year.
In a bid to save money as well as reduce emissions, 670 lights are already being switched off between the hours of midnight and 5am.
