Corrections

Corrections Policy

Research Marketing covers a fast-moving industry, and speed is never an excuse for inaccuracy. When we get something wrong, we correct it openly, promptly, and in a way that preserves the public record. This policy explains what counts as a correction, how to request one, and the commitments we make when we respond.

What We Correct

We correct any factual error in our reporting, including but not limited to: names and titles; company, agency, and brand names; dates, figures, percentages, and financial data; quotations and attributions; job roles and organizational relationships; and misidentifications in text, headlines, captions, charts, and summaries. Where an error is material — where it changes the meaning or fairness of a story — the correction is made prominently and the change is noted on the story itself. Minor typographical errors that do not affect meaning are fixed without a formal note.

We distinguish corrections from clarifications. A clarification is added where a published statement was accurate but incomplete or capable of being misunderstood, and where additional context materially helps the reader. Updates to developing stories are labelled as updates with the time of the change, so readers can see how a story evolved.

How to Request a Correction

Correction requests should be sent through the corrections route described on our Contact page, or by post to Research Marketing, 1411 N Sterling Ave, Palatine, IL 60067. To help us act quickly, please include:

  • The headline of the story and its date of publication.
  • The exact statement you believe is wrong, quoted from the story.
  • The correct information, with a source we can verify (a document, a filing, an official statement, or a link to the primary record).
  • Your name and a way to reach you if we need to ask a follow-up question.

Anyone may request a correction — readers, subjects of coverage, and organizations alike. You do not need to be the subject of a story to flag an error in it.

Our Commitments

  • Acknowledgement: We aim to acknowledge every correction request within one business day.
  • Review: An editor not solely responsible for the original item reviews the request against the underlying sources. Where the error is confirmed, we correct it as soon as practicable, and normally within two business days of confirmation.
  • Visibility: Material corrections are noted on the story page itself, at the point of the error or in a corrections note, stating what was wrong and what is correct. We do not silently rewrite published journalism on matters of substance.
  • No-retaliation: Requesting a correction has no effect on future coverage. Subjects who correct us are covered on the merits, exactly like everyone else.
  • Right of reply: Where a story contains a serious allegation or criticism, we seek comment before publication wherever practicable; where that was not possible, we add a timely response when one is provided and say that we have done so.

Disagreements

If you disagree with our decision on a correction request, you may write to us again marking your message as an appeal and identifying the editor’s decision you are asking us to reconsider. Appeals are reviewed by a senior editor. Our decisions on matters of fact are final, but our record of having considered an appeal is kept with the story file.

This policy applies to all content published by Research Marketing, including Staff Reports briefs and labelled sponsored content; errors in sponsored content are corrected by the sponsor with our labelling intact. Research Marketing is a 24World Media publication, and this policy is applied consistently across our newsroom.
